Rather anticlimactic, to be honest
So yesterday (it is now Wednesday after midnight) I went for a follow-up visit with the surgeon.
The most notable thing to me was that I was only 152 pounds, fully clothed, on their big hospital scale. There were a couple of nurses doing all the vitals, checking the incision, giving instructions for keeping it clean and healing, and so forth. A nurse practitioner examined everything, and then finally the surgeon came in to check for himself and then announce things are healing well and for me to avoid exertion or lifting over 5 pounds for several more weeks because while the incision is healing nicely it will take several more weeks for all the internal connections and healing to form a really firm bond.
Then I came home and the landlord’s nephew came over to (finally!) restore electrical power to my kitchen so I can do the things that need doing in there.
And then I had a quiet evening, with a Chicken Diablo Salad for my evening meals, ordered from Iguana Joe’s via DoorDash.
I do feel a LOT better, although I’m not sure what made such a difference yesterday. I feel like I’m in a better ‘head space’, as we used to say — better clarity, less brain fog.
So I guess now begins the process of just exercising and rebuilding stamina and endurance until my incision is healed enough to start doing the heavy work. I can’t even move the skein winder back into position for a few weeks yet, but just sitting isn’t going to help so I have to do the simple exercises and start getting my life back in order. Slowly.
I’ve lost so much weight that my skin is all saggy and wrinkly. Yuck. I suppose it will restore somewhat over time. I’ve also not shaved or cut my hair since before surgery so I am seriously scraggly and scruffy. Now that electrical power is restored in the bathroom, though, I could probably manage handling the trimmer to clean up around the ears.
