Another Friday!
It’s been five and a half weeks since surgery. Things are starting to level out and I’m becoming accustomed to what I need to be doing for my progress.
Today I made three walks to the end of the block, and two sets of the leg exercises (10 reps each exercise), plus I got the vacuum out and vacuumed the living room. I don’t know if that wore me out more than my regular exercising, but it certainly used different muscles and joints.
Having just done the third walk and 2nd set of exercises, I DO feel better but in a worn out tired sort of way. I know that as I keep doing this it will get easier over time. I am hoping that this will translate into better sleep tonight.
The scar itself is healing and starting to fade a bit, but it will always be a vertical mark up my torso. I’ve always been comfortable going outside without a shirt when the weather is nice, but now I find myself a little self-conscious about the scar. That annoys me. Not only do I have an ugly scar up my middle, I’ve also lost so much weight I look almost emaciated and decidedly not-sexy.
My finger-stick numbers have been a little high today. A friend brought over a King Cake yesterday, just a few days beyond its ‘best by’ date. Since I couldn’t sleep in the night I got up and cut it into a dozen pieces, wrapped them, and stuffed them into the freezer, and ate one piece in the night. Probably not the smartest thing, but come on — it had strawberry/cream cheese filling! 🙂
Not a lot else going on really. Just working on my little exercises and building up stamina.
