Starting a New Year
Wow…. seems like I haven’t posted anything here since last year!!! Hahahaha
I sincerely hope things begin to settle down for me in the coming months. My granddaughter did come over on Monday and dyed a batch of Phydlbitz Sock. She picked out her own color palette and after some guidance on mixing the dyes, she made her own color selections and techniques for applying the colors. I’m so proud of her.
Monday morning I went for a fasting blood draw. Yesterday I got a message that my kidney function has diminished in the last month, so I can’t do the CT scan tomorrow. I’m supposed to drink 2 quarts of water a day, then do another blood draw on Friday. Apparently the kidney function has some relation to the dye they use for the CT scan. So, assuming the increased water will then improve my kidney function, the CT scan will occur next Thursday, the day before the colonoscopy. UGH. If it ain’t one thing, it’s another.
Anyway, with Devyn doing virtually all of the stand-up dyeing, I followed up yesterday morning with the washing, rinsing, and hanging the yarns. I was very careful to only do one at a time, monitoring the weight of wet-soaked yarns and so forth. I managed it okay, so I feel better with plans to proceed with the other dye projects that need doing. I will probably feel better being a little more active, but until the health problems are fixed I will remain cautious with everything I do.
I have no great plans or pronouncements for the new year. It’s just a date on the calendar, a social construct without actual meaning in itself. So I long ago quit pretending the new year means anything other than another day to try again. So I’ll do the best I can with what I’ve got and see what happens this year.
