For the record, I DO have a heart!
So, today was the cardiac stress test. It was not at all what I was expecting. No running on a treadmill to increase my heart rate. Nope, instead of that they injected some radiotracer stuff into my vein, had me sit for 45 minutes to let it distribute around my system, took a bunch of pictures, had me wait a while longer (and allowed me to get my insulin and eat some snacks), then took me into a different room, set me in a giant recliner, and pumped me full of some sort of caffeine-and-chemicals stuff to stress my heart. Then more pictures.
I was obedient to not eat or drink anything but the water they said I could have overnight. I felt groggy and sluggish during the procedure but I’m not sure if that was from my crummy night, or the stuff they were pumping into me. Either way, it wasn’t as horrible as I had anticipated. Mostly just waiting for the next part of the procedure.
I did take my knitting with me so I would work on the socks. I had just barely started when I discovered a gross error that has to be corrected, but I could correct it there. I have to unknit back 3-4 rounds; not a process I wanted to tackle at the clinic. So mostly I was just sitting and waiting and occasionally dozing off.
Tomorrow I’ll go to the Pasadena for another blood sample to see if drinking so much water is helping the kidney function. It is certainly helping the bowel function, but that’s not what they’re going for. Oh well….
My morning finger-stick was only 105, but my afternoon finger-stick was 230, possibly because my insulin timing and weird snack foods instead of breakfast. And a bowl of my amazing home-made goulash leftovers from Tuesday. It takes forever to eat a whole pot of goulash.
When I got back from clinic this morning I realized I needed bananas and other stuff from Kroger, so I got a Lyft there and back. I wasn’t there but about 10 minutes to grab what I needed, but standing there at the check-out I started hurting again in the belly. Not good. Glad it’s just another week until they shove a camera up my ass to look at the works. I’m so tired of this. UGH.
Well, anyway…. into the evening I go. BigBoy continues to be attentive. He didn’t sleep inside last night, but I imagine he will want to tonight.
