Heading into the elections last month, there was a lot of ugly rhetoric about protecting children from men dressing up as women just to lurk in the ladies restroom to molest children.

I have not seen reports of ANY actual case where such a threat has been realized.  The reality is that transgender women (and trans men) have been using their gender-appropriate restrooms for years and nobody has actually suffered harm for it — except, of course, trans women who have been the victims of assault by others.

The message has been “We must protect our children from perverts and deviants.”

If we were take warning from the actual news, rather than hyped up campaign slogans, no conscientious parent would take their child anywhere near a church or religious organization, much less actually entrust the care of their child to such a place.
