Nicer words, same old bullshit
Wow… did the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints come to their sense? Have they pulled a 180?
No. They have posted a weak and ridiculous attempt at sounding sweet and nice, but their new website is just as ugly as what they did by funding Prop 8 in California. They are still anti-gay through and through. Between brief pretty-word paragraphs, and smiling faces spouting scripted garbage, the bottom line is the same. They call it: Love One Another: A Discussion on Same-Sex Attraction
You can go on and read it, but it all ends up the same:
- We believe marriage is between a man and a woman;
- If you can’t find love with the opposite sex, you have to remain chaste;
- But it’s okay, because even if you can’t have sex here, God will make a way for you to have an opposite sex partner in the next life.
Sorry, but there is NO WAY you can claim that this is a truly loving and compassionate position. It runs contrary to what we know about human sexuality, sexual orientation, and the complexities of romantic/sexual relationships. Gay and lesbian people deserve to have active relationships in this life time, whether your particular church approves or not.
If you are gay and Mormon you are supposed to just sit back and pretend it is okay that your church doesn’t want you to have a full and well-rounded romantic life with a committed partner. That is not okay and I find it difficult to think rational people would put up with such nonsense.
It is not loving or compassion to designate an entire group of humans and declare them undeserving of love and companionship and sexual intimacy. I don’t care how pretty they make their website or how much sugar they add to their words. It is poison to the mind, poison to the heart, poison to the body. Fuck the Mormons.
