Biker Dude!
I have been riding my bike regularly for errands, and I tend to wear just whatever I am wearing. I ride as close to the white side lane marker as I can without falling into the ditch, always conscious of traffic and everything. And traffic coming up behind me tends to properly swerve left to go around me and zoom along on their way. Today, however, was different …
Today it was this yellow shirt.
My camera isn’t capturing the electric-yellow nature of the shirt, but it is quite similar to the yellow of the “…For Dummies” books. (dammit… I just tried to put in a link to one of those books and this WordPress software isn’t allowing that. WTF???)
Anyway, so today it was this bright yellow shirt. And every single car that came up behind me, even when there was no on-coming traffic, slowed down and stayed behind me until I actually pulled into a driveway or other space. Very odd, indeed. As you can see, there are no special markings on my shirt directing traffic to slow down. And I was definitely NOT any farther into the lane than any other time, riding the white line as best I could.
Even with my cane clearly visible, it was no different from any other day or time since I ALWAYS carry my cane when I’m going anywhere that I’ll need to alight and walk a bit.
Perhaps I should make a point to wear this electric yellow shirt more often…?
Oh, I almost forgot. I have another cane sling/holster waiting to be adopted:
You can find it in my Etsy shop right here.
