Summertime Cooler

  • 2 quarts STRONG iced tea
  • juice of 2 lemons
  • juice of 2 oranges
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 1 cup sugar

You'll need a 3 quart pitcher for this.

I used the Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Pot, but you can make 2 quarts of your own favorite iced tea. I normally use 7-8 teabags, so that when it is poured over it, it won't go totally flat.

You should have about 1 cup of citrus juice. If not, add enough to make 1 full cup of juice, using any combination of lemon, orange, grapefruit or lime. Strain out seeds and heavy pulp (little bits of pulp are fine). Add into cold water, then add sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved.

Pour citrusade into tea, refrigerate several hours or overnight. If you make your tea with the electric iced tea maker, it will already be somewhat cold, since you make it with ice in the pitcher.

Basic LemonAde/CitrusAde Formula:

  • 1 cup citrus juice
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Basic citrus cooler is made with 1/2 cup sugar, but we used a full cup of sugar for the Summertime Cooler, above, because we are adding it into a large volume of tea.
