“Freedom is measured by the distance between church and state”

So let’s try again!

Several days ago I pointed out that the sign posted by humanists in Moscow, ID, had been defaced a 2nd time.

Well, now they’ve replaced it with an entirely NEW slogan:

let’s see how long it takes for Christians to have a problem with this one.   Really, this is even LESS potentially offensive than the previous “Millions are good without God” slogan, but the very idea that some of us don’t need or want to be shackled to an ancient superstition is apparently quite upsetting to those who remain shackled.

I could be wrong, of course, but I suspect for many of them it is a case of envy or jealousy that we have removed the superstition and are able to enjoy life as it is, without guilt, without fear, without some perverse sense of obligation to an unseen, unheard, unproven, and unverifiable entity that exists only in the minds of those who remain shackled.

Having once been a Christian, I am quite confident in saying that my life is immensely better without the superstition in my life.  Not everything in my life is perfect, of course — nobody’s life is perfect — but it is so much easier to deal with this life on its own terms without the confusion by trying to figure out what might occur in ‘the next life’.  There’s no next life to be concerned with.  There’s no god or gods waiting to condemn me.  It’s all just myth and superstition.  “No God?  No problem!”   indeed!

    Of course they’ll find it offensive. It might cause a single person to stray from the One True Path. Anything which potentially undoes the indoctrination is pure evil in their eyes.

    I love this one!!

    Maybe they’ll spray paint mustaches and devil horns on the faces…in the name of Gawd of course.

    But why the Santa hats?

    @Steve:

    Probably because it is close to the Winter Holidays, and some people need reminding that Santa isn’t about Christmas or God. Or maybe because when people get into the REAL spirit of the season (celebration, charity, post-solstice lengthening of days), EVERYone can be a Santa…?
