“Freedom is measured by the distance between church and state”

19 Jan

wow… busy news day

The buses campaigns seem to be hitting insanity and FUCKED UP RELIGIOSITY and FALSE PIETY.

Gerald Warner, some fucktard in the UK, seems to think that Ron Heather was right to walk off the job.   What the FUCK, Warner?   Do you have your head up your ass?  Fuck you!

It is good to see a Christian making difficulties for aggressive secularists, who usually have a monopoly of harassing Christians. Normally it is the banning of nativity plays and other killjoy aggressions against the free expression of Christian faith that make the headlines; so congratulations to this British sea dog for fighting back.

He cannot possibly be serious.    Does he honestly believe the secularists have a monopoly on harassing Christians?  SRSLY?

First off, claiming your God does not exist is NOT harassment.   Harassment is the purview of fundagelical Christians.    These signs (h/t PZ) are a pretty good example of harassment:

(Note, there is no connection between abortions and breast cancer — it’s a lie concocted by anti-choice proponents in order to frighten women unnecessarily; and Planned Parenthood does a whole lot more than just provide abortion services.)

This sign is blatantly false on its face and is not only an absolute lie, but a seriously flawed train of logical connections.  It is not un-American to be a non-believer.   There are MILLIONS of non-Christians who are very patriotic to this country.  And there are millions and millions of people who ARE in fact Anti-American, but are not guilty of treason — they are citizens of other countries.  Duhh.

Stupid Mr. Warner.  He repeats an error common to most Christians when responding to the atheist bus campaign:  he seems to think it’s all about Christianity and says

One further observation by Ron Heather will strike a chord with many: “There would be no way buses would be able to drive around with an anti-Muslim message like that on the side mentioning Allah.”

The atheist bus message is not about Christianity, Judaism, Islam or ANY OTHER PARTICULAR RELIGION.  They all need to quit being so narcissistic and self-centered by thinking the atheist bus ads are an attack on their precious religion.   The atheist bus message is an equal-opportunity truth — there is NO GOD no matter what you call your God.   It’s all fairy tales.

Considering how many people are getting upset over these ad campaigns, there is no doubt such campaigns need to be increased.   It is inexcusable that they get to whine about the ads.   If Christians in this country could receive even 1% of the bullshit they’ve dished out over the years, they might have a clue why the atheist ads must continue.  Christians have no idea the damage they done with their preaching and lies over the years.  It’s about time they learned.  Clearly they don’t get it, yet.  But they will.

UPDATE:   check out this piece of shit news!

An early day motion was posted on Monday (reg required) saying the ad made Christians and Muslims feel

embarrassed and uncomfortable

WTF??   like all of us non Christians haven’t been continually embarrassed and uncomfortable?   It is unsane to refrain from posting ads because religious people would be embarrassed or uncomfortable.  Who cares?  They haven’t cared how many people they hurt with their preaching, their ads, and their insistence that everyone else be silenced — which they are again insisting by trying to squelch the atheist ads.

“Christians have no idea the damage they done with their preaching and lies over the years.” - what kind of damage?

You can look at the billboards posted as one example.

Another HUGE example is the environment of guilt and shame driving gay teens to suicide (or murder, as with Matthew Shepard).

Or the women forced by their pastors (like Rick Warren) to remain in an abusive relationship.

Or the many women forced to carry to term an unwanted pregnancy by religious pressure.

Forcing clients at food banks and homeless shelters to listen to preaching in order to obtain necessary food or shelter.

Thousands upon thousands of religious missionaries going out to convert people in other countries. I know the religious folks think they “have to”, but it’s morally wrong to enter someone else’s culture and tell them they need to convert or else some stranger’s god is going to send them to hell for all eternity.

Ditto all the street preaching, door-knocking, and “witnessing” to gain converts. Morally corrupt and wrong.

Ray - honestly, really, thanks. Just wanted some specifics (which I know you’ve printed in earlier posts). Will do some more research on the above to see if it is line with Scripture (sorry, gotta do it). In each case, it seems that folks may be stretching things way out of line which, of course, results in damage.
