“Thou Shalt Not Steal”
Well, it’s only been a couple days since I mentioned the FFRF sign placed in the rotunda of the Illinois State Capital building. And now, it is reported that this sign has also been stolen.
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH CHRISTIANS THAT THEY CAN’T ACCEPT OTHER VOICES IN THE PUBLIC SQUARE????
Although the group received threats after the sign was placed in Washington, Gaylor said none have been traced to the Illinois sign. However, conservative TV talk show host Bill O’Reilly criticized the Springfield sign during his Monday show.
“That might be what set someone off,” Garlor said.
Notice she isn’t directly blaming O’Reilly, but since the sign sat unmolested before he mentioned it, there’s a likely connection that some wingnut heard about it from Bill O’Reilly’s show. But whether so or not, the fact remains that IDIOT CHRISTIANS need to lighten up. A LOT! What EXACTLY is their problem, anyway? Why do they fail to grasp that this is NOT a Christian nation, that the Christian holidays are NOT the only things being observed and celebrated this season, and their own Bible tells them not to steal?
The sign was securely taped to an easel.
“It had to take an effort (to remove it),” Gaylor said. “Atheists never engage in vandalism. We don’t go around stealing the Baby Jesus. They don’t follow their own commandments.”
Gaylor said the group hopes to have a replacement sign in place by today. “We’ll put a ‘Thou Shall Not Steal’ sign with it,” Gaylor said.
I haven’t heard of any instance of an atheist defacing a religious display, although I have heard anecdotally that it is a common childhood prank to kidnap the baby Jesus. But adults don’t do that.
It’s a shame that an atheist group has to resort to quoting the Bible to keep the Christians in line. (And yes, I DO believe it was someone claiming to be a Christian who stole the sign — Christians are the ones making a big deal out of it and claiming to be soooo offended that others have a different opinion.
