In this article, Sarah Palin is worried about HER First Amendment rights because the media is criticizing her. WTF?? The First Amendment secures a free press. She can say whatever stupid shit she wants, but the media can also take what she says and criticize her for running a negative campaign.
Palin told WMAL-AM that her [...]

Not but a few minutes after posting the last post, referring to the nastiness of the Republican Party, here comes this latest tidbit:
Boehner: Obama present votes ‘chicken *$!*%’
House minority leader John Boehner’s spokesman confirms the accuracy of this quote, from an Ohio student newspaper:
“Now, listen, I’ve voted ‘present’ two or three times in my entire [...]

At least i certainly hope so.
It has been noted widely and often over on Ravelry that the knitters supporting McCain and/or the knitters adamantly against Obama seem to be following the national Republican tenor of lying, besmirching, and misinforming people. And the pro-Obama supporters (including Republicans for Obama) have generally taken the high road, as [...]

Several people have asked why I talk about religion and atheism. I just found this awesome video from a young woman who explains it rather well.
I found it because I learned that she was suspended from YouTube because of this video after it was posted on Pharyngula. Yes. Religious nutjobs complained and had her account [...]

Ohmahgawd, this is SUCH a creepy thing, but the potential for it becoming reality is all too real.
For OUR sake, if you haven’t voted for Obama yet, please do.

How cool is this! The Economist has endorsed Obama, saying:
America should take a chance and make Barack Obama the next leader of the free world
yeah, no shit, Sherlock!
Summing an intelligent discussion of the facts, The Economist has this to say:
He has earned it
So Mr Obama in that respect is a gamble. But the same goes [...]

At a speech today, not only did “Joe the Plumber” make McCain look like a fool, by not showing up
there are now reports that of the 6000+ people in attendance at the rally, more than 2500 of them were bused in by the local school districts!
A local school district official confirmed after the event that [...]

“A is for Atheist” by Katie Englehart is a marvelous piece of writing, and explains quite well the problem with American discimination against atheists. Here’s a small piece of it:
A 2007 Gallup poll shows that 53 percent of Americans would vote against a “well-qualified candidate” if they found out that he or she was an [...]

This was just shared over at Ravelry. I like it.
Especially Neal Patrick Harris: “I’m voting because I fell in love and I want it to matter.”
YES! And if you are in California, vote NO on Prop 8! That’s an order. Even if you find the idea of same-sex marriage not right for you, it [...]

Apparently McCain and/or the RNC is seeking to create yet another guilty-by-association “scandal” against Obama, claiming he attended a farewel party with (for?) one Rashid Khalidi, a PLO advisor. Khalidi was a professor at Columbia University, lived in the same neighborhood as Obama, and they naturally became acquainted, were friendly, had dinners together, etc.
OOOOOooooo… so [...]

I’m hearing rumors the last few days from/about people who are actually upset that Barak Obama bought time on all the major networks and will offer a 30-minute informational presentation — who he is, what he stands for, etc.
And a large part of those complainers are also admitting to be as-yet-undecided. WTF???
“I don’t [...]

This is an interesting clip on how to deal with blatantly racism words and actions.
Many of my relative say and do things that I think are racist, even though they swear they aren’t actually racist inside. I call bull.

By his own admission, he’s not all that smart about economics:
Some of these quotes are a couple years old, but as recently as a few weeks ago, he was declaring the fundamentals of our economy is sound, so he clearly hasn’t learned a whole lot! One of his quotes says he’ll need to rely on [...]

Thanks to Christopher Hitchens for his recent Salon article: Sarah Palin’s War on ScienceThe GOP ticket’s appalling contempt for knowledge and learning. As she deserves, Hitchens skewers the batty woman for her abysmally ignorant lack of scientific understanding about the significance of chromasomal research on fruit flies, especially as it relates to one of her [...]

It says so here:
One theme is both familiar and clear: religion - in particular fundamentalist religion - makes you stupid. The US is the only rich country in which Christian fundamentalism is vast and growing.
That’s from this article: How these gibbering numbskulls came to dominate Washington discussing why or how our political arena has come [...]
