Happy Halloween!
Slept well last night. Very well. Surprisingly not as sore as I would have expected, given all the standing and winding I did yesterday. I do have a hitch in my shoulder, but it’s not debilitating
Today will be a busy day of getting my environment in some semblance [...]

It bothers you too, eh?
I am currently reading Generous Orthodoxy, by Brian D. McLaren. The guy’s writing style AND CONTENT is amazing, and refreshing. I imagine people of several persuasions would be offended by him [...]

Woke this morning around 4:30, already working into the day. hmph. I have plenty to keep me busy through the day, most of which is just physical, time-consuming, labor. That’s okay, it will fill the day.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading and thinking about various spirituality topics, and will probably be writing some essays [...]

Oooooo— spooky
Yesterday afternoon I was blessed to be invited to my daughter’s house down the road to participate in pumpkin carving, and got to enjoy a nice afternoon/evening of family time, chatting around, carving pumpkins, a bit of supper, and a very nice diversion from what [...]

Today was my grandson’s b’day party. He’ll be two on Monday, born just two weeks after I returned to N.O. after Katrina.
I swear, every time I go to one of these family gatherings, it seems there is twice as much “family” as the time before. One thing I noticed [...]

A month from today I will turn 53. EEEEK! For my birthday, I would like:
This giant 5 gallon salad spinner so I can spin out my yarns adequately without using electricity (the less I use the better, all the way around)
An afternoon of horseback riding (totally NOT work related, [...]

“If you aren’t getting what you want, stop doing what you are doing.”
Well, duuhhhh…
That was one of the quotes printed on a calendar I received in the mail today — an advertising calendar from National Pen Co., which they hope I will purchase for alllll my customers. Well, if you’ve ordered in the last [...]

People are seriously hurting in Southern California. Roughly a million people were evacuated, in real life. Thousands of houses were burned down to nothing. That’s real. Entire families, and their pets, are hurting. That’s real.
I just noticed on the evening line-up that before the “Planet in Peril” repeat on CNN tonight (I want to [...]

Well, you know it had to happen. I had to break out the overalls and start dressing for cooler weather.
See how the fuzzy is growing into the chin?
Busy day today, much to do.

I woke this morning feeling a chill in the air. And I clicked over to cnn.com and other news places, and I’m reminded of those waking to fires, smoke, debris. Over a million people have been evacuated from their homes throughout Southern California.
I am SOOOO fucking fortunate.
I wish I had the resources (time, money, health, [...]

This morning it is WAY colder than it’s been. A couple days ago we were touching the 90s. This morning it’s 51°. What’s up with that??
Making good progress on the patterning project.
Will be winding yarns this morning on another project.
Let’s see what UPS brings this week. Should be fun.
I was thinking I might [...]

Did y’all watch Oprah today? Very interesting. She had a couple of guests on who are dying from cancer. The woman, an actress I believe, has an extremely rare form of cancer. The man, a university professor, has 3-6 months left due to pancreatic cancer.
Yet they [...]

This is Chaz
Chaz is a Bull.
Chaz, a bull, has avest meant for church
I thought that up this morning.
Then I went looking on the web and found some awesome other fun stuff. Like this one:
I REAALLY like that, even more than the Darwin fish.
Anyway, along my travels I eventually came across actual religious [...]

Crap.
I washed my coffeemaker this morning. I washed the carafe and lid, too. And the filter holder. I used clean water. For some reason, this pot of coffee tastes like I’m sucking off last week’s dishrag. Nasty. Just nasty.

I woke up this morning to find in my email a note from my high school Class of 1972. It was a brief note, with a letter attached requesting donations to the Dan R Porter Perpetual Scholarship, to be administered through the SBHS Alumni Association.
Referring to the 35 Year class reunion this past summer, the [...]

I’m not nearly so frustratedly entangled this evening as I was earlier today. I began re-knitting the 3FCS project, which is fine. and then discovered I’d lost a stitch somewhere. I could’ve sworn I cast on 8 loops, but after a few rounds of knitting each half had 17 stitches. Well, that’s nonsense. 8+2+2+2+2 is [...]

I have to go horseback riding this weekend or I’ll die for sure. I just HAVE to!

I nearly ran out of vinegar this morning, so I had to go get more. And some coffee, bread, and found some soup on sale, too (Campbell’s “Select” were 4/$5.00!!!). Near the pharmacy section they had a BIG hand-written poster declaring “Ask about Flu Shots — $25.00.” [...]

I was alerted by a piece on my local news, so I went looking, and it is true.
“DTV” IS COMING
(AND SOONER THAN YOU THINK!)
Apparently all those people with plain ol’ analog televisions, and aren’t hooked up to a subscriber service (cable, satellite, whatever), their televisions won’t work without spending money for a convertor box.
I already [...]
