Several things worth noting

One of my regular readers (who shall remain nameless for several reasons) inquired:

What is the word for having sex with a dead body? I know there is one.
What I would prefer is a word for having sex with a passed out body but
I don’t think there is one.

To which I snappily [...]

Grand Day, so far

Things are looking up.
I posted my “end of the month” sales notice and in the last 24 hours have deposited almost the entire rent amount, after paying other overdue bills.  I was halfway there a few days ago, but had to pay down some credit cards and stuff, which wiped out any ahead that I [...]

Serenaded by Frogs?

It is now 3:45 a.m.    I stayed up a little late watching movies on TCM and so I was a little late getting to sleep.
My knees are still grieving over Saturday’s outing for the granddaughter’s b’day cake, but slipped a knee cuff over the right knee as I went to bed.  I’m not sure “how” [...]

trying again

(My server continues to give me fits — glad I copied this post before trying earlier when it got sucked into the ethers)
Yesterday I went out to my childrens’ mother’s home for a granddaughter’s Third Birthday cake.  It was overcast and the weather was dreary, but it was a pleasant afternoon anyway, with all the [...]

“William Tell” me to sleep?

A couple months ago I mentioned I got a goodly selection of classical music CDs. One of them, a collection of famous overtures, is part of the collection that I keep in the CD player in the bedroom (the overtures, plus collections of  Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach, plus a th CD of relaxing or meditative [...]

Please save me from bad coffee!

In an effort to cut expenses to match my current income, I switched from my favorite Community Coffee “Between Blend” and picked up a big jug of Folger’s “Country Roast” because it was cheaper to start with, plus was on sale.  MAJOR MISTAKE
I made a pot of it this morning.  There is no way to [...]

dang it!

I woke this morning and went to check my Web sites…. both of them indicated that the sites didn’t exist. WTF????
I cannot run a business if the Web sites are down and people cannot see what is available. I put in a service ticket, then decided I needed to call and “inform” [...]

I don’t like rollercoasters

I knew going into this ride that there would be ups and downs.
I knew going into it that starting a business and moving beyond the “hobby” stage was a risk, and I put everything I had into it. No net. Net seatbelt. And guess what?
I’M STILL RIDING IT! [...]

Train Wreck

Throughout the day there have been news reports about teenagers killed when they ran into a stopped train.
The four kids who were killed were ages 14, 14, 13, and 12; the two who remain are both age 15 (one of whom was driving).
There’s a candle light vigil at the site of the accident, remembering the [...]

It feels like….

You know when you get a really bad sunburn?  Your skin hurts just thinking about it, all those little nerve endings screaming out at you.  You lie still and it hurts.  You move and it hurts.  It’s not muscle pain or joint pain or stabbing pain or even a dull ache, necessarily.
Well that’s what the [...]

Things I do not want or need

Lesbian sex porn.   Viagra.  Cialis.   Hot teens.  Secret Stock tips.   Bigger, larger, fuller breasts.   Hymen destroyer.    Longer penis.   More enduring erections.  Some chick who found my address and wants to come to my town (and oh yes, she’s young and hot and horny).  Fosamax.  Levitra.  Flomax.  A dozen other drugs.
I am 52 years old. [...]

Now THERE’s a novel idea!

My daughter just called a few minutes ago to tell me that the local school has an opening for a school crossing guard.  A couple hours in the morning, a couple hours in the evening.  That would be a handy (and nearby) part-time position, probably just barely enough to cover rent and utilities, but that [...]

Okay, now I get it … sorta

When I lived in New Orleans I lived near several decorator shops.  Several times a year I would walk along Magazine Street and find boxes and bags just FULL of sample books — fabric swatches, tile samples, and so much more.
Pack rat artist that I am, I would collected these.  I just couldn’t believe people [...]

It hurts so good…sorta

Okay, so I called my daughter and we decided I’d go check out the place today, and then we’d all go together another time. O’course, they were already planning to go ride motorcycles at the grandmother’s place this afternoon, so I guess riding plain ol’ bicycles that you have to actually pedal isn’t so [...]

Much better today!

I didn’t wake with a headache, which is a good sign.  Got my hair cut already, waiting for breakfast to cook and waiting for the load of towels to finish drying.  Then I can eat, shower, and get into the day.
So I don’t know if anyone else noticed (HA!!!) but this whole Paris Hilton thing [...]

Morning Migraine

I’ve had incessant chronic headaches/migraines for years, and I know that most, if not all, headaches are related to the constriction and/or dilation of the blood vessels in the head.  Some of my headaches are related to barometric pressure, which I cannot control.
This morning I woke around 5:30 with the most massive form of headache, [...]

Ringing ears

I have the television turned off.  Rather boring.
I was knitting on a piece of lace on the machine, a simple but beautiful pattern that I’ve been trying to work out in my brain.  I keep forgetting that it is okay to do a centered double-decrease on the machine, so I end up have a pair [...]

Center-and-Circumference

Recently, on the GLB-Knit list there was a brief discussion about Mandalas — what they are and how to use them — prompted by someone posting a link to a demonstration of the Kalachakra sand mandala being assembled by a Buddhist monks, which is always fascinating to watch in any form. Someday I’d like [...]

Ponderings

Today I am dyeing a BUNCH of yarns:  some HoneyDew and Citrus Delight for lace, and two brindles for socks (one Glacier Lake and one a Raspberry complement).
Earlier this morning I went and made groceries for a while — filled up the cart for only about $75.00.   But the cart was full and I [...]

Worsted? Sport? Which?

I’ve been sitting here staring at 3 balls of undyed Biagio sport weight, stitch patterns running through my head, and a fist full of doublepointed needles. I want to assemble the 2007 Holiday Stocking. I NEED to do this. Yet every time I reach for those three balls of yarn I can [...]
