long, busy day

Okay … The latest yarns have now been posted at Knitivity.
And I’ve sent out another brief newsletter, which anyone can read at the YahooGroups Website.
I’ve had a long and busy day, photographing yarns and testing the latest edition of the Yarns page.  I’m tired and sore, but it’s a good kind of tired and sore.  [...]

tooooooooo beautiful!!!

Looking outside at the gloomy grey foggy day (not to worry, SUN is coming soon), I clicked over to APOD and found this amazing beauty:

(click it to see the full picture).  Isn’t that just amazingly, almost breathtakingly beautiful?
I’ve heard it said (maybe you have, too) that the measure of a life isn’t in how many [...]

A challenge to grow

I’m on several internet lists and mail groups.  One of such list, someone was looking for resources for yarn.   This comment was part of that post:

Can anybody recommend any other sites? I wouldn’t
want to buy from some hole-in-the-wall internet company. A larger,
hopefully refutable, company is preferable.

Well, obvious the person meant “reputable”, and at [...]

Bright day to you!

Wow, what a difference between yesterday and today!   It is BRIGHT sunshiny outside.  I had a good night’s sleep, feeling mostly rested and well.
Over at Knitterman, I posted a picture of my progress on the Amazing Anatomical TGIF Footsock. I will likely finish that one today or tomorrow. I was hoping to go knit with [...]

dang it… post was lost!

Okay, so I posted a follow-up to the UGLY YARNS and it got sucked into the ethers.   Well, dammit, I’m not going to re-write the whole thing.
This is what happened to the yarns in which I was so sorely disappointed:

After the yarns were more fully dried, they reminded me of that purple-ish thistley portion within [...]

Tasers or not?

I’m not real big on commenting on news items, but this one rubs me the wrong way.  It is about the use of tasers by the Houston Police Department.   I’m sure there are similar stories all over the country.
I have no doubt that some people have lost their lives after being hit by a taser.  [...]

Can it get any uglier???

Okay, so this is what I did yesterday and finished this morning:

I was AIMING for “Faeries in the Forest” or something like that.  I don’t think I got there!   In fact, I will probably rewind it and redye it tomorrow, but I will withhold a final determination until I have rewound them.  I am [...]

Gimme a spoon!

It’s funny how reminders come and go … and some reminders come and stay (dammit).
Thanks to a comment from FiberQat I was reminded of The Spoon Theory, which has been a strong point of reference (and affirmation) for me for quite a while.  I don’t have Lupus, as does the creator of The Spoon Theory, [...]

Happy Mardi Gras

Today is FAT TUESDAY — the day you are supposed to use up all those decadent goodies (flour, eggs, sugars, and a bunch of everything else) before Lent begins at midnight.  Today is Pancake Day, for that reason, too.   It uses up all those goodies.
In the Christian calendar this is a very sacred time.  Doesn’t [...]

The reason for weekends

Weekends are a time of refreshing — get off the work-a-day routine, catch up on household chores, do something fun or different… blow out the dust from various crevices in the deep mental recesses.
There’s a reason for that.  Taking a break means you can be ‘not-working’.   It means you get to be “not-thinking-about-work”.
Uh-huh…   [...]

Thank you for you

I clicked over to Daily Word and found this:

Pray for Others

Dear one, I give thanks for the blessing you are in our world.

Dear one, I am thinking of you today with tender memories and a faith-filled vision for your future. I hold you in loving prayer, seeing you as you truly are—strong, [...]

16 Feb

well, this is weird

I’ve had a pretty good week, over all.  Mailed out several packages.   My son ASKED for some hats to show his co-worker, who will probably buy some for him and his kids.  I’m working on another pattern to be sold.
I am knitting by hand on this project.  It is virtually impossible for me to knit [...]

Pandering for Dollars??

Ever since I moved here, there’s been a particular series of commercials from a particular law firm that just annoys the snot outta me:  “Simmons & Fletcher, Christian trial lawyers”; “We get our ethics from the Bible”; “Because it isn’t greed to get what the law says you deserve.”
I have absolutely NO comment to make [...]

I like the indicators

You know how sometimes you get indicators or “suggestions” that things are going well (or not)?
There have been a couple of things now in the last few days that have me in an “up” mood.  I won’t give away any of the details, but one involves a potential customer/partner up north who is interested in [...]

Valentines, eh?

Well, thankfully I don’t have to worry about finding the right card, or doing the right thing, or sucking up to someone just to get a piece later on.
BUT! If I did have a partner, what would my partner be like?
Well, I think I’d like a good-looking man who makes my heart swoon every [...]

Done Deal!

A couple days ago I mentioned I would be posting a Preview page for the latest yarns, and some discounts on some other yarns.
The new yarns and the February discounts (good until Feb 25) have been posted, so the preview page is closed, and the special discounts have been given out to be used as [...]

Philly officials warn eatery for English-only sign
I say “Bravo.”  Joey Vento is absolutely RIGHT on this.  He owns a restaurant in America.  It is absolutely correct for him to ask patrons to order in English.   He is not telling customers what language to use [...]

Sneak Preview Posted

Okay, I got most of the yarns posted on the SNEAK PREVIEW page. That page will go live tomorrow evening for everybody else in the world to take what they want at the new prices.  If you want an additional 10% discount on your total purchase between Sunday and Wednesday night, just shoot me an [...]

Way Cool!

After posting that piece about Media Madness, I clicked over to Daily Wordfor the day’s reading and was surprised to find this:

Free

I am free! Praise God, I am free!

I am free—free to give and receive the love of God and free to be a shining light of God’s wisdom and grace right where I [...]

Media madness

Okay, so Anna Nicole Smith died suddenly. Boo-hoo. Her mother lives outside of Houston in a mobile home, presents herself well (at least on the television interview) and her property doesn’t look like trailer-trash. Pity the mother who lost a daughter and grandson, for sure. I wonder what is was like [...]
