Gray outside; Bright inside

Man-oh-man, what a gross disgustingly gray and gloomy day outside.  Barely a peek of sun once mid-morning.  Right now, early afternoon, feels like after dinnertime, just before sundown.
And, for a brief while earlier I was feeling gray and gloomy inside as well, but I shook it off and started preparing more yarns for dyeing — [...]

Time to include gay troops

Yes, it is time to include gay troops….
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/30/pysk.shalikashvili/index.html
OH WAIT!!! There have always been gay and lesbian service members in EVERY branch of the military. Hell, *I* was in the military! (Okay, so I was married and not “out” at the time.) The issue isn’t that they are included, but that they [...]

A drunk and a bigot ?

Well…. this may have an influence on my decision regarding Barack Obama.
A drunk and a bigot - what the US Presidental hopeful HASN’T said about his father… | the Daily Mail
There are many people afraid of having a Muslim president (although Obama claims to be a Christian), and there are many around the world who [...]

Good day today

I called the City of Houston and the Harris County business centers to find out about selling my hats and stuff on the street corner.   Inside city limits I would need a peddler’s permit, but outside city limits I don’t need anything, as long as I am 20 feet away from County right-of-way.  This means [...]

Lunch to go?

I was PISSED today.
I got my latest order of Glow-in-the-Dark yarn.  Very cool.  I went to photograph it to put it up for sale.  My regular digital camera was giving out goofy-ass pictures that looked like they were washed off and running down the image.   Very odd.  Had to go buy batteries.   Just [...]

Mulling it over…

Lot on my mind this morning.   Got to sleep around 11:00 (I discovered “Jeapordy!” reruns after the late evening news and found myself surprisingly engaged), but woke quickly around 4:30 this morning in a very good mood.   I measure that by how my brain/mind is engaged and on what the focus is.
This morning I woke [...]

KnitterMan for President!

As long as everyone else is throwing their hats into the ring, I hereby officially announce that I will accept the Independent Nomination for President of the  United States.
it’s time for this country to have a genuine working person at the helm, someone who can feel the realities of the majority of people in this [...]

Man I feel so OLD!

Since regular network programming was reruns, and I was busy knitting on the Organic Shawl, I checked the listings and decided on a goofy show in the E! network: “50 Cutest Child Stars, All Grown Up”, just to have noise going on.    Oh crap!   “I” was already grown up, married and divorced before [...]

Where’s my Serenity, damn it!

This is an article I wrote about 6 or 8 years ago (?) when I was publishing the Two Scoops email newsletter.  I had long forgotten it, but during a search for something else on the Web, I came across my article republished on someone else’s Web site (with full credit to me, and [...]

a way with words, indeed!

This is just toooo funny.  A definite MUST READ.  I adore this woman’s attitude.   And I appreciate the person on the GLBT Knitlist who shared the link.

Progress!!

But sometimes you just have to know when to put down the transfer tools, remove the weights, detach the cast-on comb, rewind the yarns, turn off the lights, close the door, and simply walk away.
I have learned that I am NOT a good person for dealing head-on at the moment of frustration.   I end [...]

Feeling kinda bummed

Had a pretty good night sleep but I’m kinda bummed this morning.
The reality of the world is (as Brigitte commented the other day) ideas are just “in the air” and many people simultaneously tap into them.   The reality is that I am a creative being and I try to be “open at the top” [...]

feeling better now

took a brief nap, had some bocadious dream activity going on (why can’t I tape these things for watching again later???), but was awakened by a car horn outside, so it wasn’t really much of a nappy nap.
Watching American Idol at the moment, waiting for the American Idle …. eerr… I mean the President of [...]

dumb, dull, stupid, boring day

I don’t know why (although I suspect the weather) but today has simply NOT inspired me one iota.  I’m discouraged at the lack of sales, discouraged that my brain isn’t spurting out ways to create something EVERYone wants RIGHT NOW, discouraged there is no sunshine to walk in.
I realize it is just temporary, and in [...]

“Si quaeris monumentum, circumspice”

This quote was printed  on the cover of “Treatise of the Art of Knitting, with a History of the Knitting Loom: comprising an interesting account of its origin, and of its recent Wonderful Improvements” by J. B. Aiken.  I had printed it out long ago and had been reading it in the bathroom, and I [...]

Where’s the ‘replay’ button?

wow… last night I had a whole bunch of wild dreams.  Most were fairly intense, but significant.   I just wish I could remember them for the content.  All I can recall is that I was engaged in some deep discussions about ’something’ .  Scenes and people kept changing but it all felt like a sequence [...]

“Party Animal Not Included”

I just posted pictures of the new Mardi Gras Glow-in-the-Dark cap over on the other page, but here’s one of the pictures:

The caption along with it has this disclaimer: “Party animal not included”. Click on the picture to see the rest of the page (and order your own, of course).  I’m not sure I like [...]

Sense of entitlement, still?

This morning I found this article on the local news Web site: New Orleans officials try to clear people from unsafe public housing.   The story is a continuation of the protest begun on Martin Luther King day last week — former residents of the St. Bernard Housing Project were attempting to enter the property [...]

Surprise!

Very cool.
DD#2 called late this afternoon to ask me down for a big casual dinner with some of their friends who were hanging out together. Very nice… pork chops off the new grill, some pasta-and-cheese, ranch beans … and some very very wow appetizer thingies: shrimp with a little dollop of cream cheese [...]

Knitterman at work!

Over at Knitterman, I’ve posted the latest pictures and info on the Organic Shawl project.  I am happy with it, so far, and using a gloomy dreary rainy Sunday afternoon to watch old movies and knit on this project.  Tomorrow will be a full day of promotion and money-making income-producing efforts.
OH! by the way.   [...]
