Red-Letter Day?
Really crummy sleeps in the night, but managed to get up and shower in time for my P.T. dude to show up early. I had thought he had said around 8:30, so I went out early and did a few laps on the concrete pad, and a set of leg exercises.
He didn’t show up until well after 9:30, closer to 10:00, and put me through my paces again, then we took a walk to the end of my block (with my walker, of course), and then he had me do even more leg exercises. Sheesh, wiped me out!
Then the nurse came back and checked my numbers again, as the P.T. had. By the way, my sugar and b.p. numbers were very good both times.
Then on a whim, after a bit of a rest, I decided I need to go to Kroger on my own (for cigarettes, which they do not deliver) instead of waiting until someone else was free to get some for me. So I arranged a Lyft, went and discovered Kroger surprisingly not crowded, went straight to the self-check area and got what I needed. It was nice that one of my regular cashiers was there so I had a nice chat as well. It was my first Kroger strip since before surgery, so it was sort of therapeutic to be there.
Got a Lyft back home, and realized I was bushed but hungry, so I ordered a dinner of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans. What arrived was enough for at least two FULL meals, so I ate part and was pleasantly surprised to be very full. Simple fare, but satisfying and filling. And then discovered I was too full and awake to take a recovery nap from all the earlier exercise. Very strange, considering the last many weeks. No complaints, just surprise.
