No more clinics in 2019
Okay, so I went to my clinic visits today. They told me no food or drink after midnight, and I was obedient. I took my insulin and snack foods with me, so I could have that after the ultrasound and before the CT scan.
The ultrasound took a very long time, but finally I was able to take my shot and eat a snack. Except my insulin pen didn’t have as much as I had expected so I only got 6 units instead of 20. That’ll teach me to make sure I have a full pen with me if I ever need to be away from the house during an insulin shot time.
The CT scan was ‘fun’ — it was done in a mobile unit behind the clinic, so I had my hospital gown on over my pants. Glad it wasn’t raining or freezing, but it was otherwise uneventful for the most part. Then I was told that the ultrasound technician needed more pictures. Ooops. I’d already eaten a bit. Oh well.
The second set of images took as long as the first and I ended up dozing off several times along the way. She sent those images to the doctor, and he requested yet another set of images. I asked, “Did the doctor find something?” She said, “I can’t tell you, I’m just taking the pictures the doctor wants.” And then she said, “Your doctor will contact you within 5 business days, but probably sooner.” Oooohhhh goodie! That instills great confidence, doesn’t it?
Soon as I got home I messages the endocrinologist to ask about the dosing on my morning insulin, since I’d only gotten a portion and it was nearly lunchtime for my pre-lunch insulin. Around nearly 3:00 the diabetes counselor called me to tell me what to do next time (i.e., take just a half-dose in the afternoon if I miss the full morning dose).
And that was nearly time for my post-lunch finger stick – only 125! I was expecting higher, but I’m not complaining.
And I AM feeling better today than I was yesterday and during the night. Maybe the Metamucil actually is working? Hell, I don’t know. I DO know I’m eating better, but probably tooooo overcautious at times.
Feeling better means I should be able to pick up the pace on dyeing projects, which will be a very good thing. I’m losing money every week I can’t produce things to sell, and I don’t like that.
Oh, and just for fun …. one of the local ice cream treat trucks is outside, tinkling “Music Box Dancer” and driving me up the wall for the last 10 minutes. Geez, I wish they would turn off their noise when they stop to sell stuff.
My sleeps in the night were messed up (Thanks, BigBoy), and I’ve been dragging ass all day. I’ll do a few minutes with the dumbbells and running in place, and then prepare to work tomorrow.
I meant to add: I got results back from the CT scan:
We are pleased to inform you that the results of your CT Lung Cancer Screening exam done on 12-05-2019 identified finding(s) that has a very low likelihood of becoming active cancer. Please note this test is intended only to promote early detection of Lung Cancer.
So that’s a good thing.
