I’ll take Seconds
Last week I was delighted to win an auction on ebay for a pair of Levi button-fly jeans in a size smaller than I’ve been wearing. I’ve had 36x32s for several years, but they fall too low, to the point I can pull them down without opening the buttons at all. And that, in turn, makes the legs so low I am walking on the hems.
So, I went with 35x30s. Brand new for $21.50! Wheee.
They arrived today, I slipped them on — good fit. Just a wee bit snug at the waist, but they will stretch with the wearing. They always do. But I noticed something odd … the buttons were too close together, leaving a gap at the bottom of the button band.
These are the new ones…
and these are my favorite black 501s…
The buttons on the new jeans are clearly closer togeether, leaving a larger gap at the bottom. To be honest, I could almost crawl out the bottom of the opening without undoing a single button!
So I am going to guess these are what’s known as “seconds” – perfectly suitable for wear, just not “perfect.” That’s okay by me. I’ll take Seconds.
