Sitting down for dinner
I have lived here over 9 years now.
My kitchen has an open countertop that I usually have draped with a shower curtain and laden with jars and bottles for dyeing yarn. Even when I happen to have it cleared, I don’t actually sit at the counter, although there is enough overhang and spaces for stools around it for sitting to eat, if necessary. I don’t have a dining table at all, and most of the time I have eaten dinner while sitting on the sofa or standing over the sink.
For only the second or third time since I moved in, I actually pulled up a stool, fixed myself a cup of tea to go with my dinner salad and I sat at the counter like a grown up. 🙂
That may not mean anything to anyone else, but it’s a significant and deliberate act of “being the change I want to see in the world” — or at least in my own world. There are changes in my life lately, and more to come, but it’s a good change. Mostly mental/attitude changes, but some of it is manifesting in the physical world.
