Surprise myself dinner
So, I had 3 brats, 1 large baking potato, 1 cup of frozen green beans, and 1/2 cup of mirepoix. Plus some olive oil, and some Italian seasoning. And a couple pats of butter.
So I put a couple pats of butter into the skillet, along with the mirepoix and the green beans. No fire underneath, I’m just stacking my ingredients.
Then I cut the potato in half lengthwise, and then into slices. This gave a firm base the length of the potato for slicing. It is hard to make even slices on a whole potato when the ends aren’t even touching the cutting board.
I blotted them on a couple coffee filters (because I do not use paper towels) and then drizzled them with a little olive oil and some Italian seasoning
Them I unceremoniously dumped them on top of the beans and mirepoix.
Then I sliced the brats and tossed them on top.
Then I threw the whole thing into a 375F oven for about 40-45 minutes, tossing a couple of times during the ovening.
And this is how it came out. Not as thoroughly browned as I expected …..
but OMG with a little sprinkle of Tony Chachere’s and some parmesan…. whoa. I ate both plates full. 😀
No really, that’s about an average supper – 2-3 brats, 1 whole potato, 1 or 2 cups of veggies. But I only had 3 biscuits for breakfast, and a small peanut-butter-and-banana sandwich for lunch.
