What “Rights of Christians”??
Unbelievable! Apparently Janet Mefferd has this crazy idea that Christians have an constitutionally protected right to not see gay people!
“Whether the homosexual activists like it or not, and I know this isn’t politically correct to say this, but not everybody wants to see that. I know that that’s offensive to the activist crowd, they want us all to see it, they want us all to approve of it, they want us all to call it blessed and okay and rejoice and have parties and throw confetti in the air over this whole thing. But the fact of the matter is it’s a moral issue. You will always have Christians who will disagree with this and why should the rights of the activists trump the rights of Christians?

Seriously? That’s a hip-wader level of hyperbole. Yes, we have a right to be out in public, just the same as everyone. Nobody is asking you to approve it or bless it or rejoice in it. Quite frankly it is just none of your damn business what other people do. Being gay is no more a moral issue than being straight. It’s all just part of human sexuality. HOW one behaves or expresses their sexuality may or may not be a morals issue, but one’s sexual orientation is definitely not a morals issue.
There are Christians who object to drinking and piercings and tattoos, but they aren’t whining about some imaginary “right” not to see other people minding their own business. So why are they pretending they have a “right” not to see gay people minding their own business. There are Jews and Muslims who don’t approve of pork, but they aren’t legislating to make pork illegal for the rest of us.
I think Ms. Mefferd needs to keep her nose out of other people’s business.
