Yes, we did!
If you haven’t heard, President Obama has won re-election for his well-earned 2nd term.
Nobody with a clear head ever said Obama was perfect. But nobody with a clear head ever blamed Obama for all the problems either. He accomplished a lot in spite of Republican obstructionism and their refusal to work with the President to get things done.
The Republican Party has been hijacked by extemists, especially the so-called TEA Party. I suspect more people will discover they’ve been duped and will leave the Republican Party. I don’t imagine they will all go Democrat — some will align with Libertarians, others will go with the Greens, or some other party with a strong position on one or more issues.
Since Obama will be viewed as a lame duck, some will try to manipulate him or will continue the GOP commitment to block him at every turn.
We cannot expect Washington to change much on their own. What we need is for more people to realize that this is their country — OUR country — and not just the country of wealthy white business people. Every citizen must feel like they own a piece of this country and its future. They might not own businesses or even a piece of land, but every citizen is a co-owner, and they need to start acting like it.
Everyday ordinary citizens need to get the facts and form an opinion and actively get involved in doing what is best for the country. Giving bail outs to big business while ignoring the poor is not the way to do it. Supply-side economics is not the way to do it. Money needs to be in the hands of those who SPEND it rather than hoarding it. We must have a demand-side economy, where people who have money to spend will spend it, driving up demand for more goods and services. Money is just like water — it has to flow in order to be effective.
